Preparing for Your Maternity Photos

Thank you so much for trusting me with your maternity photos.

I know how meaningful — and sometimes overwhelming — it can feel to coordinate everyone and prepare for this season. My job is to make the entire experience feel easy, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable for your whole family.

Use the tabs below to help you prepare for your session. But if you don’t read anything else, this is the most important thing to know:

Relax — I’ve Got You

You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need perfect outfits.
You don’t need everyone smiling at the same time.

You just need to show up.

I’ll guide you the entire time, keep things moving, and capture the real moments in between — the snuggles, the giggles, the chaos, and the connection that makes your family yours.

Feel free to send me inspo pictures. We will work together to use the elements that you like and weave them into your simple, timeless session. You can also call or text me with any questions or ideas any time!

What To Wear- Dad

  • Best Colors

    • Cream, beige, taupe
    • Light gray, soft brown
    • Muted olive or soft navy

    What Works Best

    • Solid button-down, henley, or fitted crewneck
    • Lightweight sweater or textured knit
    • Neutral chinos or dark, clean jeans
    • Simple, clean shoes if visible

When in doubt, keep Dad simple and let Mom shine.

What To Wear- Family

  • Coordinate your outfits, but don’t match. Choose a simple color palette and go from there. This will give everyone the option to pick an outfit of their own, but still be subtle and fit the scene.

  • Focus on simple shirts. Avoid logos and crazy prints and patterns! It will bringunwanted attention to the outfit and can cause distortions to appear on the photograph that were not originally there.

  • Avoid dark and bright colors (RED and DARK PURPLE are my least favorite colors) Vivid shades tend to reflect and bring attention away from the face.

  • Light or neutral colors can look appealing and fresh .Pair it with a jacket or scarf and you will be good to go!

Getting Kids Ready Tips

Kids do not need to be on their best behavior—wiggles, giggles, and curiosity are all part of their story. Everything is cleaned after each session.

YOUR job is to look at your kids like everything they do is the cutest thing in the world!

A few things that help the session run smoothly:

  • Feed kids before the session
  • Bring lots of snacks and water
  • Pack a few favorite toys or comfort items
  • Choose outfits that fit well and are comfortable
  • EXTRA TIP! Have 2 outfits that you approve of. Let your child choose their favorite, and bring the other option as a back-up.
  • My goal is to have a fun experience for the whole family- Including mom and dad. If mom and
dad are excited and have a positive attitude about pictures, your kids will, too!
  • Try to talk about your upcoming session in a positive tone around your kids!

Posing & Confidence

You never need to worry about knowing how to pose or what to do with your hands. I will gently guide you through every pose, adjustment, and movement—down to the smallest details.

My job is to:

  • Help you feel relaxed and confident
  • Guide you into flattering, natural poses
  • Create an experience where you can simply show up and enjoy this season

You don’t need to be a model—just you. I’ll take care of the rest 🤍
